APRIL 2011

i mostly spent april at home.

it started with the vietnam holiday, then it prolonged to other things.

HOME IS WHERE THE HEART IS

anyways.

the kids are growing and getting smarter by the day.

literally.

even the small one.

so mengada -_-

kakak on the other hand, talks ALOT. like.. ALOT!

myra was sick for awhile.

one day when i called, myra wanted to talk to me.

"anti,,anti.. nana sakit.. nana demam.. nana makan nana muntah."

"nana demam? nana sakit ape?"

"ha.. nana demam.. nana sakit peyot (perut)"

i asked my mum after that and my mum was surpised, how did i know so much.

i said, myra told me. and she laughed.

macam-macam..

amir on the other hand is so mengada and super demanding.

he doesn't want to be left along. wants to be among us while we sembang or gossip.

wants to watch tv. wants to be taken around for a walk.

and when he wants his milk, its gotta be there and then on the spot,

or else he'll start wailing like its the end of the world.

one of the events this month was the bowling tournament organized by my school's post graduate club.

each team consisted of 3 members, playing 2 games, and best team with the highest score wins.

please do not make fun of how i play.

Jalan-jalan : Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam

my april started off with a trip to Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.

this is a 4 days 3 nights trip.

there was 40 of us, a bus full.

all of which were my lovely aunties with me as the youngest, as usual.

u guys might recognise these ladies from my previous trips.

i usually follow them on their trips.

fun ok? :)

anyways. we departed from KLIA on friday morning,

at about 9am and the flight was slightly more then 2 hours.

the flight was smooth and the food was ok. i had nasi lemak i think.

when we arrived, we were greeted by our vietnamist tourist guide.

our tour agent from malaysia was with us as well in this trip.

while waiting to get on the bus.

our little jadual.

first stop was lunch of course.

we were all starving.

not really actually.

we just wanted to taste vietnamese food.

lunch was good.

we went to this restaurant called Halal @ Saigon.

this place is owned by an Indian Singaporean lady.

this is superb.

i dont remember whats it called.

it the appetizer.

my mum was surrounded by the local street vendors outside the restaurant,while waiting for the bus to arrive.

here in Vietnam, their main transportation is motorbikes.

tons n tons of them.

an average of 2 per person.

a tip we got from our tour guide was, when crossing the road, dont stop in the middle of it to let the bikes thru. just walk straight and ignore them cuz they will make their way around you.

crazy right?

we tried of course, but we were to scared.

being malaysians, and our rempits.

the whole time i was wondering, takde accidents or rempits ke here?

if i stayed longer, i would've found out :P

anyways, we checked in to our hotel to freshen up before our evening agenda.

Tan Hai Long Hotel.

the hotel was super near to the Ben Thanh market, which is the famous indoor shopping market. you can literally go crazy in there. seriously.

so that evening before dinner,we headed out for a little show.

it is something like our wayang kulit, with puppets and singing traditional songs and all but in water.

after the show, we went for dinner at another local muslim restaurant.

the food was lovely.

after dinner, we went back to the hotel.

since it was still early, we decided to take a walk around the night market.

Ben Thanh market opens daily but at night, after 7pm, they open small stalls around the Ben Thanh building.

its like a pasar malam.

they had everything, from food, fruits, clothes, cloths, souvenirs.

its like a tourist's shopping haven.

hehe.

Day 2

we headed out to the Cu Chi Tunnel which is 2 hours bus-journey from the town.

of course, travelling with these ladies, a 2 hour long journey is never a bore.

they came prepared.

Karaoke!

this is our tourist guide, thao.

he knows malay too.

with an indonesian slang to it.

ok. Cu Chi Tunnel is the tunnel used by the vietnamese dulu during war with the americans.

they built an underground tunnel, multistory tunnels, for protection from the americans.

they had traps and fake tunnels that led to a dead end, everything, to protect themselves.

the tunnels were so small and tiny it could only fit a vietnamese.

i dont remember how long the tunnel is, but it covered a huge area.

have u seen a tree covered with this much fruits??

the trap with spikes, the enterance to the tunnel with thao demonstrating it. literally as small as a vietnamese and they are SMALL.

i think this might be the only group photo that we have.

at the end of the tour around the tunnel area, we were served with ubi rebus and kacang tumbuk.

this was their food dulu-dulu.

i think our parents and grandparents dulu-dulu pon ate these as well.

next stop, back to town for lunch.

after lunch, we went to the war remnant museum.

such a sad place, honestly.

it had pictures and all of what happened during the war.

how the americans tortured the vietnamese.

seriously sad and sickening.

there were american tourists and i wondered what they thought of that.

we were scheduled to go visit the Notre Dame building and the post office.

these are the few buildings left that was built during the american days.

but after that long walk around Cu Chi tunnel, everyone was too tired, so we just passed it.

later that night we had dinner at a nearby place, which we walked to.

after dinner we went to the Ben Thanh night market to do more shopping :)

Day 3

after breakfast, we headed out to Mai Tho,

where we went for a boat ride along the Mekong River.

here we were taken to a few of the islands for some fresh fruits and coconut candies.

at the last island, we had to ride the small boats along the small river to get to our boat out on the big river.

that was some experience.

imagine a tiny road, with boats on both sides, clashing with each other is not a big deal.

my mum was screaming at first. haha. hillarious.

oh. sorry. not much pics cuz the camera died.

on the boat ride, we were each given a coconut drink.

so fresh. yummeh!

there are 4 small islands.

we went to 2 only.

coconut candy making island.

tiny boats on tiny river.

the journey back and forth took about 2 hours as well.

so we went back in time for lunch in the city.

and the evening was free for us to go shopping.

after lunch, they dropped us off at the local shopping mall.

it was quite boring.

a tiny building with 4 floors but with expensive shops.

opposite this mall is the parkson.

honestly, the Ben Thanh market is waaaayyy better.

so after heading back to the hotel for prayers and all, we went to the market for more shopping!

well it is a shopping trip.

it would'nt be called that if we didnt spend all the time we had doing so :P

that night, being our last night there, we had dinner on a cruise ship.

apparently they started that cruise ship business due to popular demands from tourists.

the food was so-so.

it was about an hour's ride.

with entertainment and all.

which we barely understood.

the other cruise ships.

of course the night was still young.

after dinner we went shopping again :)

Day 4

the last day we were fully on our own.

since our flight was later that evening, so we had the whole morning to ourselves to do more last minute shopping. this was the opportunity to take my mum to Ben Thanh market.

mind you, the whole time we were there, she didnt follow me when we went shopping.

my mum wasnt all that well. she was having knee problems so she couldnt walk much.

i was doing most of the shopping for her.

so finally, we dragged her to the market. and yes, she now understood why the rest of us was so crazily shopping.

the people in Ben Thanh market know how to speak malay.

and they even accept malaysian ringgit.

malaysians love to shop at vietnam.

crazy i tell you.

its a paradise especially for those business minded people.

we actually met quite a number of malaysians there.

even when we went for dinner or something, the restaurants would be filled with malaysians ONLY.

macam makan kat malaysia la pulak.

we came to vietnam with half the amount of bags here.

we went back to malaysia, with double bags each.

some three bags each.

at the airport.

while waiting for our flight, it started raining crazily heavy until the airport blacked out.

even the generators, the back up were'nt working.

that was the first time we ever experienced an international airport blacked out.

the place couldnt land so our flight was delayed.

we reached KLIA at midnight.

overall the trip was awesome!

if u ask me, i would definately come here again,

for SHOPPING!

haha :)

definately a recommended place to visit.

first of all,

anyways. march was the month of cooking for me.

first weekend, we made this.

tapi tak jadi sangat cuz it was very milky (due to the condensed milk)

and was not hard enough (we added a bit of castard)

anyways.

battle of the bands was back in town.

but this year in my opinion was not as happening as last year.

the participants were'nt that banyak.

so-so la.

JANUARY 2011

new year.

I spent mine at home with my family.

this was the beginning of me going back n forth penang-kl-penang.

having my little nephew, i had to take care of myra while my sister goes thru the whole pantang session.

i was home for a bout 2 weeks or so.

babysitting myra, bathing her, feeding her, putting her to sleep, taking her to the park, jalan-jalan.

everything.

me, yanti, alida and mye planned a surprise baby shower for mimiey.

unfortunately syida and yasmin couldn't make it so it was just us.

we went over to mimiey's place, with her assuming her hubby's friends are coming over for lunch.

so while she was cooking us lunch, we came in surprising her, and boy was she surprised to see us.

hehe :)

we set up the small decorations and the presents and waited for lunch to be served.

we talked and talked and talked.

it was soooo much fun catching up.

i still cant believe mimiey is a mummy.

it feels like it was only yesterday we were driving to class, exercising at the park,

walking around the pasar malam..

my december was mostly spent at home.

so i'm picking up where i left off.

since there were too many events, and lots of pics,

i'll just post up pics and write a bit of details ok?

im only human, i forget things.

thank God for pictures.

NOVEMBER

the beginning of november was exam week, i think.

we sat for 2 papers.

i had to take phase equilibria and materials characterization.

it definately brought back memories during the undergraduate years.

my notes and some last minute studying in the car.

(or maybe just posing for the camera)

the exam went well, Alhamdulillah.

everyone passed with flying colours.

this was during a weekend where we went grocery shopping.

weekend = cook-end

i made soup with mushrooms, fish cakes and fish balls.

healthy~

ala-ala makan macam korea, hot steamy-steamy.

yum!

and my rummate made cucur ikan bilis!

this was during the grocery outing, we stopped by to see the long awaited proton inspira.

and then there was Raya Haji.

this time around i spent raya at my relative's place in Juru.

it was fun~

pagi raya, me and my cousins went out to distribute the daging qurban.

banyak gila kot. it took the whole day~

that night we had a girl's night out.

it was me and my cousins.

this was actually my first time hanging out with my cousins ONLY like this.

so it was fun

after maghrib, we went out to autocity, shop in the park.

and later on we sat down talking/gossiping at starbucks.

awesome time :)

the following sunday was a family day organized by the club, UMA.

i was all dressed up (i L.O.V.E my top)

it was literally a family gathering cuz

everyone is related to each other one way or another.

tho i barely knew most of them.

we even played parcing the parcel game.

it was vicious i tell u.

playing with the aunties especially.

they threw the parcel as tho it was a bomb, barely touching them even.

we had our own strategies tho, which we guessed none of them liked.

my cousin ended up winning.

november ended with an international conference in kl.

i was glad to finally meet this gorgeous girl.

its been ages! :)

the conference was a bit boring since i was the sole participant from USM (engineering).

the food was awesome tho.

it was held at the Prince Hotel, exactly opposite pavillion (lucky me)

so i guess u'd know where i disappeared of to when i got bored ey?

so that was basically it for november.

month : OCTOBER 2010

October was a super havoc month for me.a lot of traveling was involved. a lot of money was spent as well *yikes* anyways, it started off with my cousin and yana's wedding. i actually drove back especially for these occasions. of course, upon my arrival i was greeted by this little girl, who wouldn't let me out of her sight.

pretty date rite? quite a popular date to tie the knot. anyways, went to my cousin's first. the solemnization was held at a small surau that morning. just a small family get-together.

after lunch, picked up mye at the lrt station before heading off to the 2nd wedding of the day : yana & shahrul. time wasn't really on our side, so we sorta arrived late. didn't get to meet many of our friends whom later we found out attended. weddings are the place to reunite with old friends, catch up on things. fun! its the ONLY time you get to meet them! the after party was at wangsa walk mall. met up with hadi, tarqi, liza, linda and erin. lots of talking and laughing involved, not to forget the food (despite the fact that we were from a wedding, some were not satisfied with the food, hence the hunger).

the following week, i drove up to Perlis, UniMAP for some business related matters (haha. ada bunyi macam CEO tak? :P) the SEM machine at my school was down, so i had to seek for help else where. i ended up staying there till the weekend. drove the ladies mad with my presence (mad in a good way ok?) non-stop eating, non-stop talking, non-stop shopping (erk? hahahaha) plus karaoke-ing and of course, the must destination : padang besar. absolute fun! ;)

the following weekend, my family came up to Penang. we visited my uncle who got into an accident recently. then we went driving around before settling in the hotel, Vistana. the next day, we went around hunting for food. we had roti canai (which wasn't all that good), we had nasi kandar line clear (which was awesome!) and we bought roti banggali (if only we had curry then, the menu would've been complete). and they sent me off to the airport before making their way back home :) short but blissful weekend ;)

why was i sent to the airport? 3rd Regional Conference on the Natural Resources and Materials at Bayview Hotel, Langkawi. it was a 4 day trip, the conference was held for 2 whole days. this was my first time participating in a conference, as a poster presenter. i was super nervous especially when i found out that my dean was the one evaluating me! gahh! anyways, it went well. the conference was mainly on natural resources (as the name of the conference) so i couldn't really relate to it. was basically spending time eating and shopping. hee~ :P

when i got back, i had another visitor. a pregnant mummy was on an eating-trip to Penang. we met up with them, oh what fun we had. i came back with teary eyes and painful cheeks due to the non-stop laughing. we went to this famous nasi kandar stall that only opens after 10pm - Nasi Kandar Beratur, and oh boy it literally was beratur. the line was super long. i think we waited almost 30 minutes to get our food and it was quite good (i prefer Nasi Kandar Line Clear).

anyways, i think that sorta summed up my october.

month : SEPTEMBER 2010

things that happened during this month are:

Fasting Month - as mentioned in my previous entry, its a must to have a get together during this month. met up with my old friends, had a superb time with fatin and also a must to break fast with the family :) wonderful time to catch up on things and issues. updating each others' status. hahaha :P
Raya Shopping - shopping for raya is a must ok? SALE SALE SALE!
Selamat Hari Raya Aidil Fitri - selamat hari raya! :) this year, my sister's family celebrated with us together. myra wore her first baju raya which she picked out herself. soo pink! after morning prayers, we went back to my hometown. first stop was Juru, Penang. my cousin from Mauritania was back for raya. first raya celebrated with his wife :) after the lovely lunch, we went back to Bandar Bahru, Kedah. almost everyone was there. the house is always happening during raya. raya IS the time for us to get together. unfortunately, this raya was when the misfortune happened at the Penang Bridge whereby the cable blew up (?) something like that la. i don't have my facts right. raya is also about collecting duit raya! yay! hehehehe :P (i'm a student, hence i deserve duit raya!)
Nurul Izzati's Birthday Celebration - celebrated her 24th birthday at.. *drum roll pls* KFC! hey the important thing is that we were all together. kan kan kan? siap dapat present pinggan flower-flower ok? :P
A few of my friends got engaged this month. its the time of the year (cuti sekolah, family gatherings, etc) so we'll be expecting lots of couples tying the knot next year! :) congratulations!
September was the month of lots n lots of work, and not forgetting mid-term tests. gahh!

month : AUGUST 2010

august turned out to be my super duper hectic month. despite it being the fasting month, i was also struggling with my research work. i had a dateline to catch, plus classes to attend (not to mention the assignments) and lab to assists.

research : most of the hard work (literally) was done in august. it was a full month for me, 8am-5pm. after breaking fast, pengsan depan laptop. haha.
classes : a bit annoying cause the lecturer keeps canceling the class at the very last minute. could have gotten work done but ended up with nothing. *sigh*
lab : teaching is quite fun (especially if they don't know anything and you know everything :P) first two weeks i was just assisting, but from the 3rd week onwards, i was on my own. was a bit tough at first cause i was caught off-guard, but i got the hang of it.

fasting month brought back memories during my under graduate years. bazaar was never a miss. oblong, kek batik, murtabak. yum! here in parit buntar, it was a different variety of food all together. in the end, rambang mata jugak la nak makan apa for berbuka. hehe.(i don't have pics tho. was too busy + tired to do so)

towards the end of august, i had two visitors from up north! hihi. what a surprise! ;) they came all the way by bus! (my sister said i was lucky to have them, they traveled all the way from north by bus during fasting month! penat ok??)

our first stop was sg. petani. mission: mencari baju raya alida + tudung raya tapi mission was not a success for alida. I bagged two tudung for myself :P

next stop: jusco perda for berbuka. we had thai food. sedap la jugak. alida found her baju kurung here. lawa ok! balik pon dah lewat malam. super tired from all the walking. but knowing us, even when the lights were out, we were still chit chatting away, just like old times ;) sahur was a different issue all together but i somehow predicted it. bangun minum air je. cet. buat penat je pk nak mkn ape the night before.

day 2: we went to sunway carnival, watched a movie to kill time before sending them off. wanted to karaoke, but...... puasa lah! pfft! sent them off with a heart full of happiness and sadness. happy for the time we had together even for a short time, sad for the time spent had to end so quickly ;(

fasting month wouldn't be complete without breaking fast with friends. so before everyone left for their hometown, we gathered at this restaurant in kuala juru. seafood restaurant. simply delicious! ;)

anyways, these are basically what happened in august.

july came and left in a blink of an eye. i was looking forward to July for such a long time but it came and went by with me not enjoying much of it. *sigh* ok.minus the shopping *whoops* *sigh*

it is august already.marks my 8th month here in USM. yet i have no result to proof anything. i hope i do get something this coming week. august would be a super duper hactic month for me. earlier mornings, later evenings. all of which is to catch up on those few months of waiting and not doing anything.

yesterday we had a talk on OSHA (occupational safety and health). it really creep-ed me out, like literally. i know i've expected all these dangerous things way back when i was filling up my MSDS forms for the chemicals i was using and i did detect a few chemicals of which are super dangerous - carcinogenic *gulp* but then yesterday when we were told of all sorts of things, well that really freaked me out. imagine having my school as the most to have accidents occuring, and you'll start to wonder if it is due to the environment or the students themselves.

last year (latest case), a girl crushed three of her right fingers while using the cold press machine. her three fingers are now (currently) a few mm short. and her nails are distorted. hello. hands and fingers are super important to girls! nak sarung cincin (during engagement or akad nikah) must have pretty pretty fingers cause people will start snapping thousands of pictures of u!

anyways. yes. dangerous and harmful. and you may never know what would happen to you, i mean besides the short term effects, those chemicals and materials that give you long term effect, you wouldn't know till you're in your 40s or something. but i can confidently say that during the year when we played with alumina and aluminium (4th year powder metallurgy lab), the effect is really obvious now. i tend to forget things, which i hardly did last time. so annoying. pfft!!

i'm not liking this!

i'm thinking twice. of everything now.

the effects. is it worth it?

just gotta be extra extra careful ey?

TIME. if only we had 25 hours in one day, but then i'm pretty sure it still wouldn't be enough. nothing is ever going to be enough if we don't start doing things right and accordingly. true?

i need to start focusing on time because i am currently at a time constrain. i have classes in the morning from monday till thursday. i have to assist lab on tuesdays. mondays and tuesdays i can't be using the petrology lab because the undergraduates are using it. to prepare my sample, i have to use this lab, hence i have wednesday onwards. evenings only since morning i'll be tied up with classes.

sample preparation takes me a while, minus the injuries i'll be facing while preparing my copper samples (grinding, polishing). coating would take me 2 hours, preparation for the coating would take an hour, max. solder making would take me 1 hour max for preheating, weighing, mixing. another 3 hours for the melting, and a few hours for cooling.

this is only the preparation of my samples. after having done all of the above, comes the characterizing, analyzing and testing. i've booked a slot for SEM, which is in mid september, by which i hope that i've done all the above and partial part of the testing. i plan to finish everything in this first part by september. hopefully. i need to have a publication accepted by december.

they don't give you money for nothing.

oh. on top of that, i have assignments and quizzes and tests and exams.

so so tiring. seriously. i've never felt so exhausted in my life. and this hectic schedule will go on till end of the year.

hopefully it all goes well for me. i am after all, wonderful at multitasking. *right*

(belated birthday actually since this is a delayed entry)

another year has gone by and i'm now at the raw adult age of 24. raw yes. still young and new to this whole new world. it is definitely something else when you reach a certain age. you think differently. your opinions vary from back when you were a child. your perspective changes. you have different motivations and aims.

everything changes

changes aren't all that fun

most people my age, are either happy with their jobs, or excitedly getting engaged, or happily married, or in my case, stress-fully struggling with my research.

when i say struggling, i really mean struggling.

we'll talk about that later ok?

anyways. my birthday was like any other day actually. nothing special. i did get tons of wishes on FB, which kinda surprised me, also touched me thinking that this many people actually cared to wish me well on my birthday. maybe because i only got a handful of wishes last year. but that didn't really matter cause i spent my birthday last year in sarawak :)

this year, my birthday falls on a monday. monday blues. yes. woke up wee early for my class, which ended up being canceled. since i couldn't use my lab, so i was walking around aimlessly. not really. i settled my chemicals, organized my things, stuff like that. so happens that it also fell on malam nisfu sya'ban :)

and so i celebrated my birthday over dinner with my dearest friends :)

awesome time. was laughing through out the whole night! ;) we enjoyed our delicious dinner at swensens, autocity. we literally exchanged dishes, so that everyone got a taste of everything. we had 6 different meals. deliciously yummy! for dessert, we had three different ice-cream selections, all of which were licked clean off their cups ;)

what better way to celebrate your 

memorable day other then with your family ;)

wish i was home though.

oh well. maybe next year ey?

pay phones

Do you remember these things?

it has been a while since i saw a working pay phone, that doesn't have any missing pieces or any graffiti around it. a proper working pay phone.

i remembered those days where these phones were essential, since mobile phones weren't that big of a deal. phone cards were collectable items! haha. i remembered using the pay phone at school, both primary and secondary, to call my mom to get her to pick me up. sometimes me and my mum would go out to the store and stop by the pay phones to call our relatives. we'd have to collect tons of coins before hand tho. i would be the one inserting the coins while my mum gossips away with her sisters *chuckles*

i know for a fact that some of my friends got their boyfriends through these pay phones. prank calls and stuff like that.

but after awhile, people misuse these things. they vandalize, they don't appreciate these things anymore, since we're in the new era with greater technologies, pay phones are just a waste of space and material. but i'm guessing these things only happens in the town, where as in rural areas, pay phones are essential, right?

where am i going with this?

no where actually. i found a non-working pay phone outside the library this afternoon. was surprised/excited to see one.

i just started with my lab yesterday. i started with the basic thing: grinding. i've got these copper plates which are 1cm x 5cm with the thickness of 1.5mm i think. imagine having to grind and polish those tiny little things.

i ended up with this on the first day :

they may not look as bad as i whine

but believe me, they hurt like shit.

nicely done alin. i wonder what happens next on the third day.

we shall all sit back and watch.

its been a very busy week for me. with classes and lab and more labs. so this week was my first week lab assisting.

do any of you remember these things? vaguely. i remember playing around with polystyrene balls, visualizing the atomic structures. i remember having to remember all of the bravais thing. i do remember how to figure out the miller lattice tho. at least something right? ngehehe.

and so, lab is on every tuesday from 2pm till 6pm...... yes.

4 FREAKING HOURS!!

*headbang*

anyways. at the end of the lab, i was left alone with the groups (2 groups each lab session, with 2-3 students each group). the minute the instructor left, they started bombarding me with questions left and right. 'akak' ok? nasiblah akak ni cool dan telah study before hand. haha :P

overall experience, it was agak fun la, tapi torturing sebab 4 jam ok! pfft!

we'll see what happens next week pulak ok? ;)

today is officially the first day back in USM.

anyways, to start the day, i woke up early in the morning with the mission to settle those unsettled things; daftar subject, daftar course, bla bla bla.

i headed first to the pejabat pendaftar to settle my pendaftaran, manually. there i came across the EAC people. no wonder there were buses and official usm cars around the front. because of them, i couldn't register to get my new car sticker cause the guard in charge was on duty. pfft!

so next was to my faculty. the new students were crowding the counter in front of the office. i could barely squeeze in. they were all there to drop subjects. and so i got my borang and my jadual, and boy was i surprised. i had a 9am class today! i looked at my watch, darn it. its 10am already. hahaha. i was laughing to myself. very nice alin.

ok. im gonna blame others on this. i was told that classes begin NEXT week. so, pfft! :P

so this semester, my classes are as follows:

Monday 9-10 am (EBB 512 Phase Diagram & Phase Equilibria)

Tuesday 9-11 am (EBB 511 Materials Characterization Techniques)

nice kan? i suddenly feel like a final year student all over again.

well i thank my lucky stars i don't have classes on friday evenings.

apart from that, i still have my tutoring and lab assisting to do, which i am yet to know when and what i am to do. they said to wait for the notice. hm.. i think the probability of me getting like a lot of tutoring n lab assisting would be low due to the amount of fellowship holders currently, with the addition of the latest one. so, yeah. i hope i won't be doing THAT much.

besides these, i still have to juggle with my research, which is the main point of me being here in the first place. now i know what it means and what it feels like being a research student, even though i have hardly begin with anything.

it is ALL up to you.

DIET: WEEK 4

i would say this week has been a very productive week.

light lunches and lighter dinner.

(ok maybe not so light lunches but definitely light dinner)

save quite a lot of $$$ this week.

made my own dinner.

(actually trying to get rid of all those food that we have)

i started joining aerobics classes which is held at the

School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering

every mondays and wednesdays

RM1.50 per class.

and i started belly dancing again with my roomie.

nak shape up and trim my waist line~ :P

i can actually feel my stomach muscles starting to tighten up.

my body doesn't ache that much anymore.

and i've definitely picked up on my stamina.

this week has been a super lazy week for me. i just wasn't up for anything. i didn't even go to my faculty to 'show-face' (except for monday, when i still had all the semangat in me).

oohhh..

if i keep this thing up, i might end up fat like this cat!

i spent the whole week in my room (my new room.hehehe :P) lazying around. rolling around in bed, then moving on to the floor next, playing this card game called calculation on my phone, which is sort of addictive lately.

now i know how yantea feels like. we (especially alida) used to bebel at her for playing solitaire on her phone, whenever she is free i.e while waiting for the bus, before sleeping or napping. yeah.

now i know how you feel.

hehehe ;)

so, how do i get back my semangat? i can't go on like this. it's freaking MAY already! i've to submit a progress report next month!

i wonder if you can get half of your research done within...lets say... 3 weeks?? would that be possible?? i'm just gonna keep my fingers crossed and pray super duper hard. you guys pray for me as well ok?

Reminiscing: Prom Night 2009

i was looking at some of the pictures posted up by my juniors on FB, pictures of their Prom Night or Pre-Graduation Night, as they called it. of course if i HAD to compare, ours was way better, right? hehehe.

anyways, after reading alida's blog, i decided to take up her advice and went through the photo album on facebook (since i switched lappy and didn't bring the stack of prom night pictures in dvds, FB was my only source of old photos). since i just only started blogging recently, i never did get a chance to share the experience ey? hehe. ok. lemme remember a few details.

i think this prom night thing was a random idea that was discussed amongst a few of my friends and they decided to build up a committee to make it happen. after much discussions and arguments, the committee, date, venue and theme was settled. it was down to getting sponsorships, souvenirs, invitations, performances, transportation, and other arrangements that needed to be settled before hand.

we met up every week to get the current updates on each others' work, maybe we'd be able to lend a helping hand or so. got new tasks in hand as the week progressed.

to make things interesting, we decided to play that secret santa game, whereby your partner is from the opposite sex (minus a few since there were more girls). the present must be a minimum of rm20 (i think). i got my secret santa a Chelsea top (not the jersey). i wonder if he's been wearing it....

anyways, that was the first part, the second part is that we'd have to go as couples, like the real prom night thing :) so the guys were supposed to ask the girls, and there was this one night where all the girls were on skype waiting till midnight for the guys to ask them. that was funny and lots of fun since it took up a lot of courage for them to ask the girls, being all romantic with their sweet talk and stuff. hahaha ;)

oh, i asked my partner to be

the venue was at jitra, about an hour's drive from kangar. we had to go early to set up things and settle stuff. on the way there, i witnessed an accident. that was super super horror. the pakcik just drove right into the pillar, where actually you are suppose to turn right (this is actually at a traffic light). it happened in front of me and i was so shaken up that i actually thought it was my fault, which of course had nothing to do with me. we came to a conclusion that the pakcik lost control of his bike and just rammed into the pillar (its a T junction, meaning at the traffic light you're suppose to turn right and straight across is a row of shop houses).

and so we got the place ready with the decorations and the seating arrangements and all. waiting for the glamorous moment to begin ;)

the night was splendid despite having a few flaws here and there, but what the heck. we had fun ;) the night kicked off with our lovely m.cs didie and shah.

no actually, the reason there's so many food is that we've not been

eating them that much, hence it piles up everytime we buy something else!

last weekend was a busy weekend for me (or buat-buat busy since the internet connection here sucked BIG time last week). i finally got myself a proper post-graduate room, which is a double bed room for me and my roomie :)

it is situated on the upper most top floor (sounds super high but it only has three floors. YET, it is quite tiring to climb up that high if you just got back from dinner or something.pfft!) this time around my room is facing the guy's block, so not that much privacy but slightly more then what i'll be getting when the new semester starts.

this room was super duper filthy! i was surprised that someone was actually staying in it! well maybe they went back home for the past 6 months to complete their thesis or something. that would definitely explain it.

and so, we started cleaning up, throwing whatever that was left for us (we got 2 badminton rackets!) and we swept away all of the existing cobwebs (yes its gross i know) and started going around the block hunting for a mop, we found it eventually. basically we did the whole cleaning thing on friday night up till 1am!

the moving started over the weekends. on saturday, since it was just me around, i moved slowly, moving up small small things. not that much fun doing it alone. on sunday was the real deal. we were up and down the stairs the whole afternoon! that was some exercise, which i'm beginning to feel the after effects.. *groans*

never knew i could have that much things crammed into a small corner
