i wanted to post up an entry regarding valentines, since its only 10 days away. i was browsing for some stuff that i can include when i stumbled upon this particular piece of article that sort of shocked me. it was dated 29 Jan 2010 (goes to show i've not been reading much about the current on-goings around me) in the Star Newspaper. this is what the article is about.

Bare your love this Valentine’s Day, female students urged

SHAH ALAM: Female students in higher-learning institutes here are being persuaded not to wear panties on Valentine’s Day as an expression of true love for their boyfriends.

The “no-panties promotion”, being held for the first time, has apparently been gaining interest among the students, who are passing the news by word-of-mouth.

Two students in their 20s from Shah Alam, known only as Ummi and Melissa, said they were aware of the “promotion.”

“I feel it is personal,” said Ummi with a smile.

“Valentine’s Day is a good time to express one’s love. And, what we use or don’t use is our right, our freedom. But we will do what is right. It’s a new world now.”

Melissa claimed that there was already a large group who planned to go ahead with it.
“We will know how many by Valentine’s evening.”

State Islamic Affairs Department (Jais) director Datuk Mohammed Khusrin Munawi said:
“We will not allow Muslim students to be taken in by such celebrations that deviate from the teachings of Islam.”

yeah. i'm pretty sure you have the same opinion as i do on this. what the hell la kan?? i mean, to begin with, in Islam, we're not suppose to be celebrating such things kan? i know la i'm not the perfect muslimah, but i don't really find the need to celebrate on this particular day like that.

to me,

everyday IS a valentines day

ok. fine. it might just be an excuse for a day to get all extra mushy mushy and get gifts and flowers, part of which i LOVE! hahahaha. so fickle of me kan?

tadi cakap tak nak celebrate tapi now nak receive gifts. 

hahaha. pfft!

anyways. yeah. shocking ok to hear these things going around. why la? why you wanna go nude under your clothes JUST for your boyfriend? haish. kids. i don't know lah. maybe its just me. thinking that such things are so unnecessary. bagi hadiah cukup la. ish.

i remembered in school dulu, we sold flowers and have that dedication thing going on, where we send flowers to our friends. some other near by schools would have it as well and they'd have them sent to us. that was fun. everyone looked forward to the month of february. the month of LOVE. hahaha. we'd look for who has the most flowers or chocolates - this would indicate that she's popular la kot. hahahaha :P

i remembered one year, after SPM while we were still bumming around, me, shaheera and fatin went to BB Walk on valentines day to have Lecka Lecka. 1 kilo worth of ice cream. hahahaha!

the crazy things we do..

we ate them there and then while looking out at the busy scenery in front of us. the cars honking at each other, the working people bustling along. couples hand in hand. flower sellers trying to get people to buy their utterly expensive roses. we ate 500g of chocolate ice cream and 500g of mint ice cream. even the workers there was taken in by surprise when we said we wanted to eat there. hahahahaha.

so, what are your plans this coming valentines? since its a double prosperity thing, with chinese new year falling on the same day. lots and lots of reds and pinks going on around huh? i'll bet. 

me? well my family is coming up to visit/attend an engagement. so my valentines will be spent with my most loved ones, my family :) :)
